Biodiversity is vital for the functions of ecosystems and of fundamental importance for human life. Vital natural services such as fresh water and clean air depends significantly on biodiversity. It provides various biological resources such as food and medicine throughout human history and still plays important roles in economic benefits of industrial and economic development at present. Recognizing the importance of biodiversity, Thailand has been ramping up the effort in research into biodiversity and sustainable utilization as well as conservation. The richness of biodiversity and intensive effort in diversity exploration and conservation in Thailand, therefore, serve as a perfect backdrop for IBD2019. IBD2019 will consist of scientific conference and comprehensive exhibition illustrating global key advancement of the science of biodiversity as well as the works of various local and international research organizations, government agencies, universities, schools, non-profit organizations, local communities and private companies, contributing to biodiversity research and conservation in Thailand and neighboring countries.
We hope that IBD2019 is a great opportunity for people who are interested in this area to communicate, share their experiences and expand their networks for maintaining the biodiversity. We, therefore, look forward to welcoming you all in Bangkok in May 2019.
